Faith! Hope! Love!

dale m reid contemporary fine art photography. faith hope love

Regardless of your faith and in our unprecedented times, I hope that the above provides inspiration. Personally, these phrases have had a significant impact. They have inspirited me!

I selected these specific images from my portfolio as I believe that they best reflect Faith... Hope... Love.

I hope you are staying well and safe. Life has changed and we do not know what tomorrow will bring. I do appreciate but do not understand your circumstances. Let me share my personal wake-up call. It was December 1985 when Pauline, my life partner and soulmate, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Our lives changed forever, and now we were looking through a different set of eyes. By the Fall 1990, the MS progressed to the point that Pauline was now confined to a wheelchair or bed. We never allowed MS to define us.

My message, "Let us not allow Covid-19 to define us"!

The artworld has changed with physical art fairs being canceled or postponed. To maintain connection to collectors, these fairs have created online fairs.

Personally, I have not been able to create new artwork as my darkroom facility has been closed. However, I have taken this time to adapt to the new environment by increasing my digital footprint. In this newsletter, I would like to share with you:

  • Magazine Feature – "My personal journey"
  • Launch of Blog – Spirit of Analog Art
  • Exhibition – Gay Gardens
  • Gallery Representation

Since the lockdown, I have increased my posting activity to Instagram / Twitter. The posts include:

  • Announcements of competition results.
  • Curation of themed exhibitions with individual images presented over 2 to 5 days. Themed exhibitions included "Welcome to Spring", "Portraits in Nature", "Mother’s Day", etc.
  • Other announcements.

To view the posts, click on the Instagram or Twitter icon. At the same time, please join my community and follow me.

It is easy to connect as you can post a comment on my blog or Instagram or Twitter. The other option is to send an email. As always, I look forward to hearing from you.

Stay well! Stay healthy!

Cheers,
Dale

Magazine Feature – "My personal journey"

At the beginning of May, I received an invitation from FotoNostrum Magazine to be featured in a future edition of their magazine. FotoNostrum Magazine is based in Barcelona, Spain. The magazine is affiliated with FotoNostrum Gallery and The Worldwide Photography Awards. I have been exhibiting with the organization since Fall 2016.

The article provides a personal journey of my artistic career with selected images and is featured in the 4th issue of the magazine:

"Life is a journey of twists and turns that mold who we are; however, it is not the twists and turns which mold us, but rather, how we take and handle them. My life has comprised experiences ranging from the unexpected to the unconventional. All these experiences have influenced who I am and reflected in my artwork."

We are in unprecedented times as art fairs / shows, and galleries are presenting artists work virtually. As an artist, we need to be innovative and adapt to the new environment.

To create a personal connection, I have launched Spirit of Analog Art. The blog will allow for a discussion of the unique aspects of my artistic vision. As part of the discussion, I will reference specific images.

I hope you will take time and engage me in the discussion. If you have a specific question, let me know and I can create a post to address your question.

Let us connect! To link to the blog, visit spiritofanalogart.com

Exhibition – Gay Gardens

CAN A GARDEN BE GAY?
CAN A FLOWER BE LESBIAN?
CAN A TREE BE LGBTQ2IPA?

dale m reid casablanca 1"Gay Gardens is inspired by Carl Linnaeus, a Swedish scientist, who published Systema Naturae in 1735. The book describes his method of naming and classifying plants based on their sexual organs and sexual actions. Society was shocked and embarrassed by the botanical orgies happening in their back yards. A woman has sex with six different men, in the lily flower’s arrangement of pistils and stamens. The virtuous canna is monogamous with one husband and one wife. Ferns and mosses keep their sex organs hidden and their marriages too."

Our jury of Gay Garden experts, Jowenne Herrera and curator Patrick DeCoste, selected works from various mediums and subjects to be a part of our online garden exhibition/publication.

I am pleased to announce that Casablanca 1 was selected for this exhibition. To visit the online exhibition publication click here. The catalogue is available online to July 17th.

Contemporary Art Projects USA, Miami, FL, USA

During 2019, Tata Fernandez of Contemporary Art Projects USA represented me at Art Santa Fe Contemporary Art Show in July and Red Dot Miami during Art Basel week in December. These are two art fairs managed by Redwood Art Group. With Covid-19 cancelling or postponing fairs, Redwood established a digital platform for galleries to present their artists.

Gift Certificates

You are not sure what your family member or friend tastes are in fine art photography, what better way is to send them a gift certificate. Or you may want to send a group gift. Whether it is for a recent grad, a wedding gift, a house warming gift, Christmas gift or any other special occasion, I would be pleased to send a gift certificate packaged with a selection of my beautiful business and show cards.

Just provide me with their name, address, email address and the amount of the gift. I will take care of every else. Please provide your name, address and email address, I will then send you an email with payment instructions through PayPal. There are no taxes on the gift certificates. In addition, I will take the time and care to help your friend or family member to select their piece of artwork.

Online Ordering with PayPal

For those who would like to purchase one or more of my pictures online, a new simplified approach has been implemented to my website. Secure payment through PayPal is still available.

When viewing the image galleries, click on the picture that you are interested in purchasing. At the end of the caption, there is a underlined link 'Contact Dale for pricing and purchasing information'. Just click the link and an email form will open with the title of the picture. Please complete the email with any additional pictures that you would like to purchase and hit send. I will reply with the price, including shipping cost and applicable taxes, purchasing requirements and estimated shipping date.

Once you receive my email, if you would like to proceed with the purchase, just complete the required information and send to me. I will send you an invoice with a link to PayPal. With PayPal, you can still use your credit card for payment or sign-up for your own PayPal account. It is your option; in either case, it is a secure method. PayPal provides easy instructions on how to make your payment. Upon payment of the invoice, I will then ship the picture.
