Despite the unpredictable weather over the last few months, I hope everyone had a great summer.

Dale M. Reid Photography. radiant roses 2I know it has been some time since I last communicated with my friends but, during the past months, I have been very active in creating new artwork. In addition, I have been in New York City developing my market presence as well as exploring potential opportunities.

  • Today, I am excited to present to you sixteen new pieces of art which includes additions to my floral studies and oyster mushroom series. In addition, I am also taking this opportunity to provide you with a background to the creation of this artwork. Watch for more work in my floral studies over the next month or two.
  • As you know, I will be participating in the international art fair, World Wide Art Los Angeles next month. Despina Tunberg, Art Director of the Fair reviewed my work as part of participation in the art fair.

I hope that you enjoy.

New Artwork

I continue to create my artwork in the studio with a focus on floral studies and still life. For me, my studio is a place of tranquility. It allows me to enter another world as I go about creating my artwork.

As you may know, lighting is integral to creating my artwork. The studio allows me to control the lightning and experiment with its location and intensity. Also, to gain a better understanding and feel for my subject, I will often sit back and reflect for a period of time.

This summer, I have been able to add ten new pictures to my Oyster Mushroom series -- in additon to preparing several great meals using mushrooms purchased from my local Farmers' Market! I find the shapes and textures of each oyster mushroom to be compelling and attractive. The series now stands at twenty-five very unique and abstract pieces of art. As this farmers’ market season draws to a close, I will be putting this series on hold until next year. In the meantime, please do feel free to share your thoughts about this exciting and innovative series with me.

Floral studies represent another staple of my body of work. I often visit the local florist looking for unique subject material; in some cases, I see what I want to create and, in other cases, I will purchase a flower in anticipation of creating a unique piece of art. It is my intention to not just take a picture of a flower -- I look towards capturing something unique. The results can be abstract/ interpretative or the message may be very obvious. My floral studies have often been compared with Robert Mapplethorpe. In some cases, people have recently commented they see Georgia O'Keeffe in these images. I am pleased to present six new pieces. More work will be released over the next month or two.

Despina Tunberg has published an article on the World Wide Art Los Angeles website about my upcoming show.

"Using a medium format Mamiya camera Dale spends hours in the black room trying to recreate that same feeling of each captured moment. Her series of black and white florals carry a very complex energy, reminiscent of the detailed panels of the Dutch masters and have a mystifying, vibrant presence."

Gift Certificates

You are not sure what your family member or friend tastes are in fine art photography, what better way is to send them a gift certificate. Or you may want to send a group gift. Whether it is for a recent grad, a wedding gift, a house warming gift, Christmas gift or any other special occasion, I would be pleased to send a gift certificate packaged with a selection of my beautiful business and show cards.

Just provide me with their name, address, email address and the amount of the gift. I will take care of every else. Please provide your name, address and email address, I will then send you an email with payment instructions through PayPal. There are no taxes on the gift certificates. In addition, I will take the time and care to help your friend or family member to select their piece of artwork.

Online Ordering with PayPal

For those who would like to purchase one or more of my pictures online, a new simplified approach has been implemented to my website. Secure payment through PayPal is still available.

When viewing the image galleries, click on the picture that you are interested in purchasing. At the end of the caption, there is a underlined link 'Contact Dale for pricing and purchasing information'. Just click the link and an email form will open with the title of the picture. Please complete the email with any additional pictures that you would like to purchase and hit send. I will reply with the price, including shipping cost and applicable taxes, purchasing requirements and estimated shipping date.

Once you receive my email, if you would like to proceed with the purchase, just complete the required information and send to me. I will send you an invoice with a link to PayPal. With PayPal, you can still use your credit card for payment or sign-up for your own PayPal account. It is your option; in either case, it is a secure method. PayPal provides easy instructions on how to make your payment. Upon payment of the invoice, I will then ship the picture.
